HR Alert – Fake MC for Sale in Malaysia
Fake MCs are on the rise. Well, it has always been ever since. Just last year in 30th December 2015, SPRM (Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia) estimated that Employers (throughout Malaysia) lost about RM 2.9 billion in sick claims due to fake MCs. An Employee submitting a fake MC is an offence by itself.
Recently, our admin came across a syndicate advertising its services on fake MCs in Kuala Lumpur. They are reachable through social media and also Whatsapp as well.
So, what should you do if you are a HR and you suspect that the MC is fake?
HR and Employers are advised to do an inquiry with the doctor and the clinic (of which the MC is claimed to originated from) and validate thoroughly. Most of the time, the clinic or doctor is able to verify in black and white. This is then followed by a Show Cause Letter to demand an explanation from the Employee to explain himself or herself. A Domestic Inquiry can only be convene should the Employee denied all the charges in the Show Cause Letter.
