Introduction

Behavior based safety management (BBSM) ideas originated from works of H. W. Heinrich in 1930’s. Studies then showed that 73% of all accidents at workplace were attributed to workmen failure to comply with company’s safety procedures. Further studies conducted indicated that about 83% of all industrial accidents could be attributed to workers conduct at workplace. Current analysis by researchers on accidents in the industry found that about 96% of all accidents at workplace are due to unsafe behaviors of workers.

This course will enhance the understanding of Safety Management in the organizations with much emphasis on the component of human behavior contributing to workplace accidents and incidents
