ISO 9001:2015 Internal Audit

Introduction

Internal audits are pre-requisite of ISO 9001:2015. However, auditing to barely meet compliance is not a healthy activity. Audits should be value added and focus on continual improvement of the Quality Management System. Audit findings by major certification bodies have revealed that internal audits are indeed an area of weakness in the implemented of Quality Management System of most organizations. In fact, most international and national certification bodies are in the process of reducing surveillance audits if reliance can be placed on the effectiveness of internal audits. Therefore, internal audits should be enhanced so that weaknesses and opportunities for improvement can be identified and actions can be taken to rectify the weaknesses or harvest the benefit.
