- The Government has decided to put the Employment Insurance System (EIS) Bill on hold to allow for more engagements with the stakeholders, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong. He felt that employers and employees must have an in-depth analysis of the content of the Bill first and four ministers have been assigned to meet various organisations and listen to their views – Sunday, 6 Aug 2017

- The Employment Insurance System Bill (EIS), which seeks to better protect some 6.5 million workers, has been tabled in Parliament. Employers will be required to not only register their businesses but also all their workers under the system. Failure to do so could see the errant employers slapped with a fine of up to RM10,000 or a jail term of up to two years, or both, on conviction – Thursday, 3 Aug 2017

- The Employment Insurance System Bill (EIS), which seeks to better protect some 6.5mil local workers, was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday by Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot who informed the House that the Government hopes to debate and pass the proposed law during the present Dewan Rakyat meeting which sits until Aug 10 – Tuesday, 1 Aug 2017
